Cheap way to get some good sounding tracks.
Recording quality wise these sound pretty good. But it is what it is. There is a tape transport system that does need maintenance. . With a BRC you can do accurate edits, they are easy to use and if maintained, are pretty dependable. For location recording that is dumped into a DAW for later editing they are hard to beat. 8 tracks of lossless recording for less than $100. Many of your favorite albums were recorded on these. But an unmaintained ADAT will drive you to suicide. Do the maintenance and you'll be fine.Recording quality wise these sound pretty good. But it is what it is. I purchased one of these because I have ADAT tapes I need to dub off to my computer mixing system. I don't recommend these devices for anyone. The technology is now over 20 years old and there area lots of computer based devices that work much better and with less trouble.
