Wanted a good camera but am not a professional photographer so needed something I could understand and easily learn. I've not had this very long so am still learning but so far so good. Was a little worried it was on the light side as far as weight but even though it's not as heavy as some, it's plenty sturdy. I only have a 28-600mm lens on it now so not sure how it will be with a better zoom or telephoto lens. Images are crystal clear and sharp. I think this camera is everything that everyone has said about it and am hoping as I go along I'll use more of the features it's capable of.

A great step up from my original A7(which I still love) This model features higher resolution and internal image stabilization. It also has 4k video as opposed to 1080. I found one with the Sony battery grip and original Sony batteries and charger at a great price!

Great behind a celestial telescope! No mirror slap to ruin the picture! With a suitable adapter, chose one among many, this compact camera puts an excellent imaging engine behind manual focus lenses made from the 1960s until camera manufacturers went nuts over auto focus. Any photographer willing to focus manually and use either manual exposure or aperture priority automatic exposure can put those old manual focus lenses back to work. Professional grade manual focus lenses (e.g., Canon FD 85mm f1.2L, Canon FD 200mm f4 macro, and many others from Nikon, Pentax, Minolta, and other makers) will work more slowly than auto-everything lenses---for a small fraction of the price. That is bad for sports photographers and parents of active children. For those working from a tripod (or doing manual exposure and focus for creative control reasons), spend the time you planned to spend in any case and spend the money you did not spend on modern auto-everything lenses on getting to the place to take the picture. Any of the Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras may be just the ticket for you.Read full review

I'll actually know if it's "better than expected" a year from now after some heavy use (I'm a cave photographer), but first use shows it does everything my former Alpha 7R II (stolen) did. Check of images on computer at high mag show no visible defects. So far, so good..... J.M.Reynolds

Even in 2022 the specs and ease of use are amazing... After so many years of strictly analog..this camera was purchased to replace 35mm and medium format... the camera performs quite well and even though I am a black and white only enthusiast.... I can easily switch back to color for sports photography.. also the ability of using "classic lenses" such as nikon or leica mount on this full frame camera is a real plus.
