i won it on auction for 23$. so i think its good price. of course it was used. it has pretty good picture quality. i have two cameras Nikon D5000 and this one. so i can tell you, that when yo need lightweight camera you must couse this one, but if you are enthusiasist in photography, you are forced to use DSLR or semi DSLR cameras like D5000. if you neet do just take picture, if you are not interested in exposure, light or other things use this one. but it cant be compared to semi-DSLR or DSLR cameras... what about DSC-W220 specs ? here : Video mode: 480p @ 30fps Has a CMOS-family sensor: No (CCD) Resolution: 12.1mp ? No True resolution is 9.8 MP compared to D5000 weight: 590 g(D5000) vs 147 g(DSC-W220) Continuous shooting: 4 fps(D5000) vs 1.7 fps(DSC-W220)
I've had several iterations of this camera for about 10 years. Small, easy to use and produces an excellent SECOND shot. For reasons i don't understand, each initial shot i take in a new environ requires a "practice" shot, which will be out of focus, followed by the "real" shot, which is fine. I've used it for all sorts of distances- from close-up to large area shots. Great results. Because i carry it and have shot over 4,000 shots over the years, i've managed to BREAK several, replacing them with the identical model. This purchase relates to the fact that i've pressed the "take" button so many (thousands) of times that it takes me more pressure to make the electrical connection, hence needs that repair. There are better cameras, but they cost in the several hundreds; this one has served me well.Read full review

This is my third identical camera only because I dropped the first two with the lens extended and bent the mechanism, NOT FAULT OF THE CAMERA! This camera is easy, reliable, small, and I love it. Also by buying the same model, I don't have to reprogram the computer, just continue picture processing seamlessly with the new camera. RECOMMEND HIGHLY

I bought the Sony dsc-w220 because I already owned a w230 (230 just has a bigger screen than the 220), and wanted another 12 megapixel camera. I looked at the more complex models, and what I didn't like about the newer more expensive ones was that you cannot manually force the camera into any macro setting. IT would decide for itself (automatically). Guess I'm old fashioned and would still like some control over my camera, instead of having it decide what I need for the shot. We have recently used it to take close up pics on metal engraving, and it did superbly. 99% of the shots came out perfect! For a point and shoot compact, it's a great camera to always carry around in your purse (which I always do). It does use up a lot of battery life (more than my 7 megapixel cybershot which I have since sold), though, so I would suggest you invest in a second battery as backup. Small price to pay for the awesome pics it takes! I have also invested in a battery charger that I can use in a car, plugged into the cigarette lighter, which will be great when we travel to foreign countries that have different elec. plugs. Highly recommend this camera!Read full review
I love its performance, it is friendly and easy to use. It has great pixel and i must admit i love its results every time you make a shot. One thing also is the Smile Effect on the cam when you are taking a picture. My family loved it. I decided to buy the item cause it is very affordable and sony to me is of quality. I think i am hitting the right digicam for me and my family. With this i am thinking of buying another cam for my personal use only.
