I got a secondhand one on eBay Jan 2022. This model now more than a decade old (so factory spares and repairs are no more); and with a 12MP first-generation sensor has less resolution than a modern mid-range smartphone. This explains why so many are no longer being used - and coming up on eBay. But phones aren't everything - there can be a pleasure in getting the image optically as opposed to the AI software. They also make good "second" cameras for those using modern M4/3 equipment. The Plus points of the Lumix GF2: sold in large numbers - so good secondhand choice; has a hot shoe for bounce flash; M4/3 sensor is way bigger than most compact cameras; interchangeable lenses; can shoot RAW. Negatives of the GF2: noisy compared with later models, JPEGs not a good as other makes - need processing or shoot RAW and fix in software; kit-zoom lens the 14-42mm Mk1 is way to big for the camera, such that it isn't really a "compact" camera anymore- it was sold with the 14mm F2.5 developed to partner this exact camera - but this is now sought after and often sold separately. Search it out - that or the 20mm lens are the perfect match. Beware, the screen is prone to being scratched when the camera is round your neck - watch for this in secondhand models; the screen is prone to delaminating - where it seems "bubbles" are trapped under it. Lastly, the accesory viewfinder is very expensive - even on eBay and way more than the typical camera and kit lens cost. If you want a viewfinder - look for a Lumix G2 model instead - it has the same 12MP sensor. So - its a good and bad camera. Purists rate the controls of the earlier GF1 model better - the GF2 drops dials in favour of touchscreen controls. That makes it a better value buy today on eBay.Read full review

The smallest compact and system camera that you can carry everywhere, which does not raise unnecessary attention, so you can easily melt in the surroundings! With a good filter and objective hood it looks like Leica .. as it actually is in many ways! Highly recommend! Peter

Well build, nice to use, and the image quality is good straight out of the box. On the minus side, the menu system is confusing. I use it with a fixed 14mm and as such it's small and light so I can carry it anywhere.

I love the small size of micro four thirds equipment, and the Lumix GF2 is a prime example. I rarely buy brand new equipment, and this body and two lenses proved that less is certainly more ....

Petite but powerful well-built camera with all controls to hand. Put a 14mm F2.5 Panasonic lens on it and it’s a nice, virtually compact camera that’ll fit into a jacket pocket. Don’t let comparisons with the earlier GF1 put you off- this works like an early GM1 but with not quite as good as a sensor.
