    Love this book!

Gone With The Wind is my favorite book, so I was very reluctant to read a sequel by a different author. But, I have not been able to put this book down.

  • A man's opinion about (Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley)

As a prisoner with much reading time on my hands, I had read most reading genres until I finally decided to go with the classics. I had skipped on Gone With the Wind because of my conception that it would be a very sappy tear jerker. But after almost exhausing the classics section, there remained few titles so I gave GWTW a shot. Like most classics it started slow to set up plot, but I could already "see" that Scarlett was a creature of beauty, vanity, connivance, and shrewdness. Of course after that, my human nature demanded that I stay and see what this beautiful creature would do next. On went the story dwindling to it's final pages and through it all laughter, sadness, anger, incredulidity, and you guessed it, palpitations of the heart. So here you have an 32 year old ...

  • Excellent book

However, after my initial shock I began to get used to Ripley and was drawn in by her intriguing plot and well established characters. The best part of "Scarlett" begins as soon as Scarlett leaves Tara and Atlanta to Charleston, where we are encountered by brand new, captivating characters such as Eleanor, Rosemary and Ross Butler, Sally Brewton, and Anne Hampton. The marvel of this novel, though, lies in the fact that, in creating a whole new set of characters, settings and plots, Ripley leaves the haunting elements of "Gone With the Wind" intact. She accomplishes this not only by staying true to Scarlett O'Hara as she had always been but also by interweaving the characters of Ellen Robillard into Eleanor Butler and Melanie Hamilton into Anne Hampton, as well as presenting the customs and ...

  • Scarlett

One of the best books I have read in a long time. It picks right up where Gone With the Wind ended. You cannot tell they are written by different authors, because Ripley captures the same flow as Mitchell. You also feel you are reading a continuation of the movie and the characters are so vivid you can picture them. You are even getting a wonderful history lesson at the same time that you are enjoying the story.

  • An excellent choise to read

I decided to buy this book through ebay, because it seemed the most easy way for me to get it fast and safely. It's an excellent sequel to M.Mitchell's "Gone with the wind", and I strongly recommend to anyone who considers it to read it.It's quite a large book which you can't let off your hands, if you are a great fan of the original "Gone with the Wind".I certainly loved the story. It's a fanstastic story about a love between two people who really love each other,I may say are obsessed with each other.Though you've got to read the first part at first.I loved the book itself as well, because it's hardcover and in perfect intact condition, which means that I can reread or lend it without a fear of damaging it.The only dissapointment is that you can't carry it around with you in your ...
