    Although advertised as an "improved" model, I prefer the 540S more.

    This is my third TomTom and prefer this brand over Garmin (which I gave to my wife) primarily because of the customization that I was able to use on my other TomToms. This Via 1505 was a replacement for my TT 540 which I loved. On the 540, I was able to add the Trapster database primarily so I was alerted to know speedtraps reported by other users, change car icons,and upload other custom POIs to the 540 where I can't for the 1505, although TomTom says it "should be available in the future." The suction disc also seems to lose suction and falls off every few hours on this "improved" model where I seldom had that problem with the 540's. I also noticed that at least for the last 3 times I have tried to add my current location to my Favorites, it says it can't because of "poor GPS reception, ...

    Done with Garmin. I now realize what I was missing

    I wear polarized prescription sunglasses and makes the TomTom harder for me to see. I gave my old TomTom to my daughter and bought a Garmin to replace it. The Garmin does have a easier to see display but what it displays leaves so much to be desired it isn't worth seeing for me. I finally got fed up with the Garmin and bought me a new TomTom. I missed the little things such as the time, what the next street is, how far to where I am going, what street I am on as well as the next turn street. I find the interface much easier to use than the Garmin and you can personalize all of it. As for routing and ETA if you pull off the road for some reason the Garmin would get lost and send you miles out of the way. The only way the ETA was close was if you drove at least 5 MPH above the speed ...

    Is the worst GPS unit I ever used.

    I travel 3 weeks a month for work and I am constantly testing different GPS units. This GPS unit is by far the worst one I have ever bought. If you buy this be prepared to a totally unfriendly menu. This GPS will take 5 minutes to find a signal after you pass under a little bridge. I can not believe this is a TOM TOM, shame on them, this product is really a rip off. Its software is so bad that it takes me told me to take a 20 miles detour to get home, when I was 20 yards away from my house. The traffic report is inconsistent. Magellan, Garmin are by far better choices than this particular Tom Tom model. DO NOT HAVE HIGH SPECTATIONS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT!

    No longer supported

    I have 1 of these I bought with Lifetime maps and Lifetime Traffic However TomTom no longer supports this unit and my clock is stuck and I cannot download new maps. I am thinking a Class Action Lawsuit is in order for offering Lifetime services.
