About this product

Product Information

The Microsoft Office Home & Business 2013 edition for Windows T5D-01575 is a retail version of the Microsoft Office software suite. Microsoft Office 2013 Home & Business 2013 edition for Windows T5D-01575 replaces the same edition of the previous Microsoft Office 2010 version. It comes with a single software license for use on a computer installed with Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 8 and the 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012. Thus, as stated in the Terms and Conditions, it can be installed on only one Windows computer. Purchase of another license is required to install the software on another computer. This software type includes physical media (DVD) and product key. The product is not the medialess type. This Microsoft Office 2013 version includes the main software applications Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft OneNote, plus Microsoft Outlook. Among retail versions of Microsoft Office 2013, it is a step higher than Office Home & Student edition, which does not include Microsoft Outlook software. It is a step lower than Office Standard edition, which also includes Microsoft Publisher software. One of the primary differences between Microsoft Office 2013 and earlier versions of the Office suite is the latter’s close ties to the cloud. A domain login, Office 365 account, or Microsoft account may be used to sync documents and application settings between devices. Users also save documents directly to their OneDrive account. There is also a wider variety of supported file formats. This includes ISO/IEC 29500, or the International Standard version of the Office Open XML format. Open Document Format and PDF are also supported. Office 2013 allows full read-write-edit of PDF documents. New features include Word’s new reading mode which displays a document in book-style format for easy reviewing, Microsoft PowerPoint’s presentation mode, and improved touch capabilities. This makes the Office suite suitable for use in tablets. Video and audio from online sources are now inserted in Word documents and Word documents can also be broadcast online. Bookmarking features are better than those found in previous versions as well. The position of the document is synchronized between different computers on both Word and PowerPoint. Office Web Apps is also included as in the older 2010 version. It does have better editing features and more user-friendly interfaces. Other features include a better-looking Ribbon interface and subtler animations when typing or selecting in Word and Excel, a new and improved task scheduler in Outlook, a new Start screen, more graphical options in Word, and better image support. Picture support for content from online sources such as Office.com and Bing, the ability to return to the last viewed or edited location in Word and PowerPoint, new slide designs, animations, and transitions in PowerPoint, Outlook.com and Hotmail.com support in Outlook are also part of the package. Integration capabilities with Skype, Yammer, and SkyDrive, IMAP special folders support in Outlook, and new limit models in Excel are included as well. The license agreement for this Microsoft Office 2013 version originally disallowed transferring the license from one computer to another. Microsoft later released a modified license agreement that allowed the transfer after 90 days with a shorter duration allowed in cases of hardware failure.

    Good software, weak instructions

Better instructions would have helped. I spent two hours trying to download and activate the program, but instead got into one of those infinite loops where Microsoft keeps asking for the same information over and over again without releasing the program. Eventually I figured out you have to type in the exact setup link provided in the start up kit. For some reason if you enter their website by any other means it does allow you to download and activate the software even though it misleads you into thinking you can. Also make sure you have an existing email account and password established with Microsoft. If not, create one before doing anything else.

This was not Genuine Microsoft Office 2013

What you sold us is not a genuine Microsoft product. The DVD should have had a hologram which was embedded throughout the DVD. This had a printed label stuck on the top Microsoft does not use printed labels. The product key did not work at the Microsoft Office website. The product key should have had an raised embedded ribbon or stripe it had a stripe printed in black ink. The box said made in USA. Microsoft did not make Office 2013 in the USA. When you advertised this you showed one image of the box from the top so no one could check it out.

  • Transition from Office Pro 2003 requires a lot of poking around to find frequently used features...BUT, had to do it!

Had it about a month. It's getting easier to use. Upgraded only because the momentum of the new *.DOCX, *.XLSX, etc. file formats were just too painful to keep retro-converting to the older *.DOC, *.XLS, etc. files. Collaboration was just getting too tedious/time consuming. Enhancements seem to be mostly cosmetic except for the most esoteric features...which few people even use. After consideration, many of the feature rearrangements make more sense...just wish the older layout could have been kept available with tutorials to facilitate the transition.

  • OFFICE 2013 IS DEFINITELY A STEP BACKWARD FOR MICROSOFT!!!

I have been using Microsoft Office for over 25 years; It was always a good product but lately, it seems to be sliding down the slippery slope of mediiocrity; they are going backwards with this version instead of forward. They have eliminated several features like lots of great stationery and fonts and embellishments that used to set them apart from other office suites. The colors that you can pick from are Black, Grey and silver, maybe blue; there used to be a plethera of themes and colored backgrounds and creating rules used to be a lot easier and more intuitive. All the way around, I would say that they are sitting on their laurels instead of trying to be inspirational about designing their office products. What a shame.......

  • Installing Office Home and Business 2013

Installation was easy, with the possible exceptions of a) the need to create a Microsoft account (even if it isn't needed), and b) one must remember to install Java (on a new computer) before trying to install the Office software. The Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook) are their usual familiar and efficient selves.
