If you think that Naruto is the best example of an inspirational anime, you obviously haven't watched the story of the Great Kamina and Simon the Digger. You got an annoying emo friend/sibling that won't stop watching Death Note? Then tie them to the sofa and force them to watch another Gainax masterpiece. The reason I purchased this series is because it is honestly one of my top five favorite anime series of all time. I really cant say anything bad about this series because I honestly wish and it would go on forever. I mean this series is very original as far as its story telling although the giant mech genre has been around for years now only a handful of shows combine great action and great story telling this well. This a series I can watch over and over again because you really care about the characters and what happens to them. I can recommend this series to anyone wheatear your an hardcore anime fan a newbie to the genre if you don't know anything about anime at all or don't even like the giant mech genre because the overall story telling is done so well everyone can enjoy this series no matter there age race or gender.Read full review

To describe what Gurren Lagann is is difficult to do without giving you the history behind it. The mecha genre of anime started with greats like Go Nagai, but more recently Studio Gainax released an anime called Neon Genesis Evangelion. It was a deconstruction of the mecha genre and the generally positive ideas behind it. For the most part it was well-written, but man was it ever a downer. This is Gainax's apology--an amazing, well-handled, clever reconstruction of mecha anime tropes, and something that I think all anime fans should see if they're feeling depressed. Because by the time this series is over, you won't be.
