ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA / ELDORADO - Eldorado (subtitled A Symphony by the Electric Light Orchestra) is the fourth studio album by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). It was originally released in 1974. Eldorado is the first complete ELO concept album; bandleader Jeff Lynne conceived the storyline before he wrote any music. The plot follows a Walter Mitty-like character who journeys into fantasy worlds via dreams, to escape the disillusionment of his mundane reality. Lynne began to write the album in response to criticisms from his father, a classical music lover. The influence of The Beatles is prevalent, especially in the melody of the verse of "Mister Kingdom" which to some degree resembles the Beatles' "Across the Universe".

    My favorite music of all time by my favorite band of all time, ELO!

    I had most all of Electric Light Orchestra's albums and love every one of them. The one I did not have was Eldorado: A Symphony by ELO. Knowing what wonderful music Jeff Lynne writes, sings, and produces, I bought the album never having heard most of the songs on it. I certainly was not disappointed. It is a wonderfully beautiful piece of work by a genius. I never tire of listening to any of ELO's music, but this one is most exceptional. I've listened to it many, many times already from beginning to end, loving every gorgeous cut on the CD. The orchestration is brilliant, Jeff's vocals are perfect, full of emotion and pathos. It touches my heart and soul. I consider Eldorado his masterpiece. I would say that it is among the top 10 albums produced by any rock ...
