I am a HVAC professional and having been using Aprilaire humidifiers for many years. I highly recommend having these installed by a trained professional. A couple of tips: The preferred location is on the warm air plenum, however many installations will not have room on the warm air plenum. If this is the case, hang humidifier on the cold air return duct and run HOT water to the humidifier. Most later model furnaces have a 110 volt connection on the main control board labeled EAC. If so equipped, wire an outlet to this connection and a Common connection on the board. This will interlock the humidifier with the main blower fan in the furnace.

Simple humidifier that worked well for four years, then I needed to replace a couple parts, (solenoid and relay) over the next couple years... I was able to order and replace myself. Unit gave up the ghost after 7 years and it was cheaper for me to buy a new unit and replace it than call a repair person to try to track down the problem. I have a 4500 sq ft house and this unit is clearly undersized. Next time I'll buy a steam injected unit.

Maintains humidity at levels consistent with outside temps. No drips or puddles on window sills due to automatic temp compensation.

The unit was slightly difficult to install, but if you take your time and read all instructions a few times you can master the installation. The unit exceeds my expectations for humidity output and control of relative humidity. I'm very pleased.
