628 is slightly out of date and buggy but very useful
Awesome product once you get by it's issues. This is an older model and the software interface has some hitches, but if you have some patience and technical skills you can get through the initial and subsequent setups. I had an older Sony DVD/VHS combo player and brand new Samsung Blue-ray, Atlantik Scientific HD cable box, and 50 inch Panasonic 1080p plasma that was easy to find and setup on this one remote. However the background light on the remote stays on unless you press the glow button to shut it off after any operation (sound included). This silly glow button feature constantly eats up batteries at what seems to be at the clip of 4 AA size every 2 weeks! The buggy setup connection is required to first update the firmware through a USB cable to a computer connected to the Internet. ... Awesome product once you get by it's issues. The update also is required each and every time you make a single button or device change to the remote. I found even though it is all ready done on the remote you need to perform the entire download sequence before you can advance to settings and the updater always times out. What happens is it won't reboot the remote to install the updated firmware. I found that if you simply disconnect the USB and pull the batteries, when you re-insert and reconnect the firmware updates will continue. Overall I'm satisfied with the products usefulness. But I think I'll be more selective the next time. Maybe one with rechargeables would calm my frustration but those with that feature seem hugely expensive at this time.

Finally one remote
This remote is very easy to program by connecting to my PC and accessing Logitech's site to download the programming for my devices. My wife likes it because she presses one button for either watching TV - DVR Receiver, AV Receiver, and TV switched to correct input; or wathcing a DVD (DVD Player, AV Receiver, and TV Switched to correct input. It does sometimes not get all devices if you don't point it carefully. If you want to select individual devices, you can, but then I have not found a way to switch back to a general function without covering the infared. All in all I give it 4 out of 5 stars. All other remotes I have had would operate all but one device. One programable remote by Sony would not operate my DVD player. One by Philips would not operate my AV Receiver. This is the ... Best remote i had ever
The remote works perfectly with all my devices. There is no recognition problem, it even recognized my Xbox 360. My satellite receiver's original remote was annoying, I had to point it directly to use it. With Harmony u don't really need to point the remote directly to the device, it just runs smoothly. Software is easy to use and customize. Activity system makes everything you programmed with just one touch. Key back-light is also very helping in dark. Runs with 4 AAA sized batteries, i hope the battery life is also as good as the remote. I received the product within the mentioned shipping time. Packaging was good, actually better than good i had some difficulty while unpacking :). The remote has several scratches in front and back, but that is what you may get when you buy a used ... Logitech Harmony® 628 LCD Remote Control - review
Logitech is one of the best universal remote control out there. Went I was looking for my Harmony and saw one that was blue, I was not sure, but the low price made that I decided to buy the 628 blue. I must admit that I'm very happy with the blue of the remove, picture doesn't do justice. Configuration is fun and easy if you are techky a bit, the only minor (very minor) drawback is the 6 "macro" buttons on the side of the screen. They should have been more like the rest of the buttons instead of little round button. Configuring the remove took me about 15 minutes to do the basic setup. That’s entering my devices and making the liaisons between them. Since I'm a self admitted geek (and my wife agree), I spend another 2-3 hours to configure my 628 just the way I want it. Sweet!!!! So ya, I ... Logitech is one of the best universal remote control out there. Very useful but terrible gui on the logitech software
The first impression was, omg i'm gonna controll everything in my house with this thingy. Then when i started to configure this remote i was very dissappointed how they have managed all menus and configuration steps. But after all hardwork programming the remote i managed to get a fully functional remote. Today i'm using this remote to control my digitalbox, tv, soundsystem (z-5500) and another amplfier. 5/5 Price 5/5 Usefullness 1/5 User friendly 3/5 Build quality With this you can recycle all other remotes in the house because logitech got a HUGE database on registred hardware to control, and if you can't find it in the database why not just clone the signal from the original remote :D?
