Solid Construction, Excellent for Low Profile Items
On the positive side, the unit is well built, and very solid. I would definitely recommend it for low profile items (1-3/8" or less) such as power supplies or other slim electronics. I very much like the ventilation channels, and was planning on using this feature to mount my item from the underside with a 1/4-20 thumb screw. I originally purchased this shelf to support a 1-1/2" height half-rack unit, but after installing it, learned that it was designed to only accommodate items up to approximately 1-3/8" in height. A standard rack unit is 1-3/4", but because of the "lip" (added for rigidity), you need to allocate two rack units to accommodate anything that is close to this limit. Just to clarify, the rack ears on the shelf are exactly 1U and will work just fine for supporting anything ... On the positive side, the unit is well built, and very solid.
