Seems to be a good product with somewhat limited map coverage (lacks Canada, for example). Small screen is OK as it does not block view of road. Product misrepresented on e-bay, as description showed that it had European maps.

The unit functions Properly but I didn’t realize that the map version would be so out of date. The last map update is 2008, pretty old. And now they want $50 for the update

Once it got all connections (didn't come with the USB cable), read the instructions carefully (I'm not good at instructions), got everything uploaded, downloaded and fully ready to go, I hit the parking lot with it. The "home base" had been set to Wichita, Kansas, and had one heck of a time getting it cleared out and reset. Took well over a hour. Once I was successful, could enter info and it WORKED. Haven't used it on a road trip yet, just playing with it around town, but definitely think I got my money's worth. Back in the 90s my husband and I had a "seafarer's GPS". Guess that's what it was called. We paid almost $400 for it, it came with no numbers or directions loaded. He wanted to use it for finding fishing spots in the Gulf. Turned out to be a waste. It was also a Garmin, but a portable type. I would recommend this Garmin nuvi for anyone who has trouble reading maps or who is traveling a lot, or even who is in a city they're not familiar with. As with cell phones, make sure you pull over to the side of the road before trying to use it. It can be very distracting trying to operate it and drive at the same time.Read full review
I have yet to use this GPS except for one very short errand just to see that it was working properly. I bought this to replace a Nuvi 450 that I had for years that would no longer retain satellite contact. This unit appears to be an ample replacement. The only disappointment is that this unit did not come with lifetime map updates. In the future, if I feel that the maps are too out of date, I will probably buy a different Nuvi GPS. It would probably be cheaper than what Nuvi wants for the maps. Had it been really clear that life-time map updates were not available, I probably would not have purchased this unit. Be careful - there is a one-time only map update available, which I installed, but the wording in the ads leads one to believe that this is a life-time update. Unfortunately, that is not so.Read full review
I got this navigator as a replacement for an earlier model Garmin that I used for at least four years. It's a very nice upgrade. The technology has improved a lot in that time, and the price has come down considerably. I don't use the navigator all that much, but when I need it, I really need it. I've had it for a day, so I haven't used it much yet. These are my first impressions. The good things: 1. Faster satellite pickup. That was my biggest complaint about the old navigator. 2. Text-to-speech capability. Not a huge deal, but nice. 3. Better shape for carrying in your pocket. 4. Better user interface. Very easy to use and intuitive. 5. Newer maps (obviously). It's nice that the navigator now knows about the (relatively new) street where I live. The not-so-good things: 1. No decent place to mount it in my vehicle. I know this is a complaint about the vehicle, not the navigator, but it's annoying that I can't find a mount point that I like. 2. Doesn't include the USB to mini-USB cable. I had two of them lying around (I think one of them came with the earlier Garmin), so for me it was no problem at all. Many buyers will have a cable from a previous purchase of a navigator or a PDA or a cell phone or whatever. But for buyers who don't have one, it's a big negative first impression that Garmin doesn't include a cable that would cost Garmin half a dollar or less. Then Garmin wants $20 for the cable, when you can buy one online for less than $5 including shipping and handling. Not a good public relations move. But if they sell a lot of cables for $20, I'm sure they're laughing all the way to the bank. 3. The Garmin software to download maps really needs an option to remove the map files from the computer after they've been transferred to the navigator. Sure, I can find them myself and delete them, but it would be a simple improvement for the Garmin software to offer to clean things up itself. So, all things considered, I'm quite happy with the new navigator.Read full review
