Rough Rider High Carbon series of knives
I have carried a pocket knife and for most of my life, multiple knives on a daily basis for 60 years. With time in the military and law enforcement, I have had the opportunity to own and use a huge variety of folders and fixed blades of all sizes and patterns. That being said, I am big time impressed with this high carbon series of knives from Rough Rider. I have told everybody I know about the quality to value level of Rough Rider knives. They are well built, designed and use quality materials - they hold up extremely well under abusive use. I now only lack the trapper pattern in the high carbon black series (I will remedy that situation promptly) and they quickly have become a favorite of mine. One of my least favorite cutting tasks is the heavy plastic anti-theft packaging we find on just about everything these days. I unboxed the high carbon canoe I received in the mail today and immediately used it to open another arrival (gun part) that was packaged as described previously. It was like cutting through butter! Instead of struggling to run the knife around the edges and being concerned about slicing a finger with the plastic, it was open in about 5 seconds. I can't say enough about the quality you get for the price of some "el-cheapo" novelty knives available. Well done Rough Rider, well executed knives!

This is the first RR of 50 or more that doesn't feel like a toy. I love the blade finish,as I really hate the highly polished blades. I also have Case and GEC slipjoints and this particular model gets my respect as an equal.

This knife ain't going in the trash.
Ever go to the airport, or concerts, or convention centers where they tell you. "sorry, no knives allowed", and in the trash they go. I just had that happen again, a brand new Case knife and another, in the trash to go to see a music convention with my son. I figured, why am I spending $30 on a case knife when I can I have one of these for $13 made better than any case I ever owned. Anyway, don't hesitate to buy this carbon steel knife, one of the best I've ever owned and that's all I'll buy from now on, in the trash or not! (Tip: when the security people tell you, no knives allowed, say I'll be back. Go outside and store your knives in the bushes and then when you come out, you can retrieve them.
